EPEA Internships and Diploma Work
EPEA welcomes interns for a minimum internship of 3 months. At minimum,
applicants should have completed two years of undergraduate work, but
graduate students and those that have completed their university studies
are also welcome.
Please note that we currently can only consider applicants whose origin
is a NON-EU country if the applicant is still enrolled as a student
at a university/college program. (This regulation excludes Canada.)
Unfortunately, this is due to some recent changes to the German working
and immigration laws.
Applicants that are Canadian Citizens may or may not be currently enrolled
as a student. Please visit the German
Consulate General Toronto website to see if you qualify for the
German
Canadian Youth Mobility Program.
General Scope of Work for EPEA Interns:
Support of scientific team
in, for example:
- Environmental Impact Analysis of production processes and products,
assessment of chemical compounds, life cycle assessment (LCA), mass
and energy balances;
- Evaluating economic and legal risks;
- Developing and optimising products (refer to Products)
with attention to environment, health, social quality and recyclability;
- Interacting with representatives of companies, governments and
citizen initiatives on a range of topics (see our methodology and
expertise sections for details); and
- Verifying compliance with EPEA methodologies.
General Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of the Cradle to Cradle Design paradigm and
sincere interest in our Cradle to Cradle Design concept.
- Applicants must have completed a minimum of two years of undergraduate
work.
- A degree (or currently enrolled in a university/college program)
in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences or an equivalent engineering
science. Candidates of a NON-EU origin (excluding Canada) must be
currently enrolled in a university or college program when applying.
- Basic knowledge in chemistry, environmental toxicology, environmental
management and/or environmental law.
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Package (e.g. Word, Excel,
Powerpoint etc.) and experience with Internet research.
- Good to very good spoken and written English. German language is
an asset but not a prerequisite, however we recommend basic knowledge
and/or the readiness to learn some basic German. Please note that
German is the official office language. A third language is always
an asset.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to adapt quickly and work in a challenging, multidisciplinary
and multicultural environment.
- Good interpersonal skills, client-oriented, can effectively use
the internet for research, comfortable interacting with manufacturing
suppliers by phone, interest in environmental issues with respect
to industry and the natural environment.

Diploma Work with EPEA
We occasionally accept students writing their final diploma work.
Please send us a proposal of your diploma work together with your résumé (as
described above).
The proposal itself should be one page in length and clearly state
the topic(s) of your diploma work, the significance of the topic(s)
and how they relate to the Cradle to Cradle design paradigm.
