The Bauhaus movement from the early decades of the last century was a genuine revolution, freeing human creativity and celebrating human genius. It introduced design criteria, which have become standard in modern design: performance, cost and aesthetics. The environment was not on the agenda at that time.

Cradle to Cradle Design extends traditional product design by integrating ecological intelligence of a product's lifecycle that is regarded as a cycle to be established by design, fairness at all levels and fun.

The Cradle to Cradle Design Community builds up on the Bauhaus movement. Members of the Cradle to Cradle Design Community will create and take opportunities of existing synergies among each other in their efforts to maximize the realization of Cradle to Cradle Design principles in their specific product designs.
