Founded by Professor Dr. Michael Braungart in 1987, the Environmental Protection and Encouragement Agency (EPEA) Internationale Umweltforschung GmbH works with clients worldwide to apply the Cradle to Cradle methodology to the design of new processes, products and services.

 

Cradle to Cradle Products and Innovation

The Cradle to Cradle methodology is the guiding principle in EPEA's work. Materials are applied with respect for their intrinsic value and their useful afterlife in recycled or even "upcycled" products, which have value and technological sophistication that may be higher than that of their original use.

EPEA contributes with essential input to the process of designing everything from concrete, profitable products, safe for human health and the living environment, to policy making, planning and administrative procedures, which are based on the Cradle to Cradle methodology, the aim of which is to attain perfection of nutrient cycles rather than to ensure compliance with environmental standards at least cost.

Ultimately, Cradle to Cradle takes products and processes to a state of soundness, which is beyond the realm of environmental regulation altogether!
