On November 19 and 20, the construction industry met in Berlin for the Heinze Climate Festival to discuss the future of construction: efficient, sustainable, digital and recyclable. EPEA was right in the middle of it — with exciting ideas, practical solutions and a clear message: Digitalization is the enabler of the construction revolution.
Panel discussion: “Digital planning, sustainable construction — does responsibility start with the model? ”
Together with Heinze and Die Werkbank IT, we have shown how digital tools make sustainability visible right from the start and how life cycle assessment, recyclability and certification criteria can be integrated directly into the planning process.
workshop: “2 digital tools for sustainability assessment in everyday project work”
We demonstrated live how our solutions address the biggest challenges in sustainable construction — from increasing legal requirements to a lack of product data.
The discussions at the festival made three central topics particularly clear:
Green Skills: For sustainable transformation to succeed, more is needed than technical solutions. It needs people with the right skills. Terms such as “green skills” and “transformative skills” were the focus of many presentations. Companies must ask themselves which competencies are necessary to actively shape the construction revolution. From research to practice, it became clear that willingness to change, interdisciplinary thinking and digital competence are essential.
The future of construction: The future of construction is circular, modular and digital. The focus is increasingly on materials such as wood, recycled concrete and renewable raw materials. Digital tools such as BIM optimize processes and enable more efficient planning. At the same time, social aspects such as affordable housing and climate-resilient cities are becoming increasingly important. Sustainability and innovation are not opposites, but the basis for sustainable construction.
Circular construction and material cycles: This is where our hearts beat particularly. Circular construction products are the key to greater climate justice. They extend the life cycle of materials and reduce the need for energy-intensive new products. Digital product passports, modular construction methods and new business models are the tools that make this change possible.
The construction revolution can only be achieved with digital solutions. When sustainability is already included in the model, it becomes a matter of course. With ProCA and conpli, we are making this change practicable — for manufacturers, planners and the entire industry.
