The project “Circular building” In the Affordable Housing & Innovative Construction Strategy Dialogue, we develop digital tools that enable the transformation to a true circular economy in the construction sector. With the Urban Mining Screener, a system is being created for the first time that reliably estimates the material composition of buildings based on less data — and thus lays the foundation for a nationwide building materials register.
This shows which raw materials are already available in existing buildings and can be reused in the future. On this basis, regional secondary raw material centers are being created: places where high-quality building materials are recycled and reused directly on site — in a resource-saving manner and with short distances.
