GEZE is an international family-owned company headquartered in Stuttgart that develops and produces door, window, and safety technology. Their portfolio also includes automatic sliding and revolving doors, which have been assessed with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), allowing them to be directly integrated into building sustainability assessments.
The doors are primarily made of glass and aluminum; both materials can be returned to existing recycling structures at the end of their service life. Manufacturing takes place using electricity from renewable energy sources, including 100% hydropower from Scandinavia and a photovoltaic system at the Leonberg site in Stuttgart.
From a life cycle perspective, the system is designed for disassembly and reuse. This supports approaches such as reuse, design for disassembly, and flexible building usage concepts. The reference service life is 10 years and can be extended through maintenance in practice. This can lead to fewer replacement cycles, reduce life cycle costs, and distribute the environmental impact of manufacturing over a longer period of use.
