We are pleased to see the start of construction for the LOOP supermarket in Haimhausen, a true highlight for us and an important step toward implementing Cradle to Cradle principles in the retail sector. The project demonstrates how circularity can become a reality in retail development.

Why is this project special?

  • Regional impact: Finally, a Cradle to Cradle pilot project in Bavaria. The LOOP market will become a location that we can recommend as a best-practice example in the future.
  • Innovation: Despite the challenges facing the construction industry, RATISBONA Handelsimmobilien is pursuing circularity and demonstrating what is already possible today.
  • Accessibility: Unlike many pilot projects, the LOOP market is publicly accessible, allowing anyone to experience the concept firsthand.

In the Munich/Dachau metropolitan region, in Haimhausen near Munich, RATISBONA Handelsimmobilien and EDEKA Südbayern are developing the first LOOP market, serving as an example of a retail property designed according to circular principles. The building has been optimized for circularity through the Circularity Passport®. The project is complemented by an outdoor landscape concept based on the sponge city principle, with a focus on biodiversity and quality of stay. The result is an infrastructure that supports both resource efficiency and user well-being.
