Novo-Tech

With the innovative GCC wood material, Novo‑Tech is focusing on recyclable, durable solutions for sustainable outdoor applications.
GCC wood material

NOVO‑TECH is Europe's largest manufacturer of polymer-bound wood materials and has been pursuing the vision of replacing tropical wood with local, PEFC certified waste wood fibers since 2005. Wood chips from the regional sawing and planing industry are used to produce a high-quality material that can be used several times. The company uses a holistic development approach and manufactures essential components, from toolmaking to parts of the systems, in-house at the Aschersleben site in Germany.

The basis of all products is the material GCC (German Compact Composite), a wood composite with up to 75% natural fibers, which is manufactured using a patented process. The GCC HarZart variant combines these wood fibers with recycled synthetic resin and is therefore denser, less hygroscopic and particularly resistant, ideal for long-lasting applications such as facades, terraces or privacy screens. GCC requires no plastic coating, is completely traceable and is part of its own return system.

Benefits

  • No plastic coating required: The surfaces are robust, easy to clean and suitable for long-lasting outdoor applications.
  • Can be recycled multiple times: recyclable up to eight times; full recovery via our own take‑back system or usage contracts.
  • Use of recycled synthetic resin: HarZart made from wind turbine blades, among other things, ensures higher density and lower water absorption.
  • High bio-based content: Up to 75% natural fibers at HolzArt, at least 50% wood content at HarzArt, from regional wood waste, without additional tree felling.
