EU requirements increase the relevance of EPDs

Don't fall behind!

New regulations make product-specific EPDs increasingly important and sometimes even mandatory! The new Construction Products Ordinance (CPR) came into force on January 7,  2025. In future, this will require mandatory information on the CO₂ footprint in a digital product passport (DPP).

Construction Products Regulation (CPR)

The EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) sets rules for placing construction products on the market in the EU. In the new version of the regulation, which came into force on January 7, 2025, the reporting of the CO₂ footprint will incrementally became mandatory for all relevant products. If the required information is not available, the products may not be placed on the market.

Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)

Among other things, digital product passports (DPP) are being introduced as part of ESPR. These make information about the sustainability and environmental impact of products (including the content of the CPR) digitally available and processable. The DPPs are to be introduced in 2026.
