RITTER SPORT has been using a lightweight and fully recyclable polypropylene packaging solution since 1991. Thanks to this design, the company is able to significantly reduce the amount of packaging material required compared to conventional chocolate packaging.
The company's packaging developers pursued certification under the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Program. For RITTER SPORT, packaging means considering which ingredients and raw materials are used and whether they can be recovered and recycled. The manufacturing processes of its suppliers are assessed by EPEA with regard to the use of renewable energy, responsible water stewardship, and social responsibility. This approach supports the company's goal of making future RITTER SPORT packaging suitable for technical material cycles.
The German Packaging Institute (Deutsches Verpackungsinstitut) honored RITTER SPORT with the German Packaging Award 2013 for the development of the latest generation of display stands.
